Neustar, Inc. (NYSE: NSR)- Senior Director, Product Management
My work at the headquarters of this core infrastructure technology company initially focused on the creation and leadership of the product management team for UltraDNS, upon its acquisition by Neustar. Over time my responsibilities have increased to include the management of a broad range of cloud-based enterprise services. These include UltraDNS (managed DNS), SiteProtect (DDoS mitigation), UltraTools (online diagnostics), the Neustar Partner Management Portal (channel platform), and Cyber Footprint (data analytics). These services are delivered by several proprietary cloud based platforms spanning five continents, serving thousands of global online businesses & government agencies, resolving over 35 million domains and over 20 billion queries every day. While leading the product management group I established the formal cross-functional product life cycle process, implemented an Agile development environment, pioneered several industry leading mobile applications, introduced several new services into the product line and managed an average of over fifty initiatives annually. My continued high performance has resulted in receipt of the Neustar CEO Award every year & multiple industry accolades from the American Business Awards. Network Solutions - Director, Product Management
My work at the headquarters of this founding member of the Internet focused on the messaging & hosting platforms of the company, which had several hundred thousand websites & several million mailboxes under management. During my three year tenure at Network Solutions I helped develop both the product development & product management departments. (2004 – 2006)
Worked for a variety of firms on the requirements, procurement, and management of strategic technology offerings. Responsible for achieving targeted return on investment (ROI), negotiation with & management of third party system integrators, and overall customer satisfaction. Some of these assignments are outlined below. (2001 – 2004)
· Nextel Communications – Worked at the headquarters of this FORTUNE 200 telecommunications company in Strategic Sourcing group. Specific assignment focuses efforts on leading strategic sourcing procurements for a variety technical and operations departments. Initial projects included working with companies such as Borland Software, SAS, DSI Escrow, and Carlson Marketing Group. Eventually transferred to a high profile group responsible for the sourcing and project management of Nextel’s multi-billion dollar 4th generation IPv6 wireless broadband network. Contract extended three times until acquisition of company by Sprint.
· MCI– Worked at the headquarters of this FORTUNE 100 telecommunications company in the Strategic Procurement & Contracts Group as part of the SEC and court ordered reorganization plan. Specific assignment focused efforts on leading strategic multi-million dollar technology procurement projects. Responsible for companywide and departmental acceptance of technology solutions as well as management of tier one system integrators. Lead assignments with companies such as Deliotte & Touche, NeuStar, and VeriSign. Contract extended three times by MCI until emergence from bankruptcy.
· Enterprise Integration Corporation – Responsible for this 8(a) government contractor’s reorganization and overall program management. While there the company increased its annual revenues by 400% and average monthly net income by over 300%. Specific program management included; Marine Corp’s COTS Help Desk (TECOM), Forest Service’s WIMS platform re-engineering, Federal Railroad Administration LAN/WAN re-architecting, Executive Office of the President’s distributed (Akamai) website (whitehouse.gov) solution & secure Internet connectivity, HUD’s Information Technology Privacy Impact Assessment (ITPIA), and Lockheed Martin’s Columbian Blackhawk program.
Digital Commerce Corporation – Vice President
Recruited by the Chief Information Officer of ICF Kaiser after he left to become the Chief Executive Officer of Digital Commerce Corporation (DCC). DCC, was a 500+ employee technology company best known for its government e-procurement portals and PowerTrust a deregulated dot com energy company. Had specific management responsibility for the medical vertical (Anceta), the professional services group (which maintained its own GSA IT-70 schedule), and PowerTrust, which grew to a $60 million dollar annual run rate within a two-year period. Was an integral part of the company’s senior management team who raised over $50 million for DCC and $20 million for PowerTrust from several leading venture capital firms and investment banks. Responsible for the design, development, and management of the industry’s leading customer support operation, multi-product consolidated billing solution, and CRM solution, which enabled the company to minimize customer turn over, lower its cost of customer management, and up sell customers new products and services. Received several industry accolades for best business practices. (1999 – 2001)
ICF Kaiser International– Principal
Recruited by ICF Kaiser, which at the time was a 6,000 employee, 80 location, publicly traded engineering and consulting firm. Had direct oversight of the Energy Solutions Practice, which was a technology products and consulting practice within the ICF Consulting division. Built this technology practice area from one location with four members to three regional locations with fifty members and an annual budget of over $9 million within an eighteen-month period. Had overall responsibility for profit and loss, which went from a several hundred thousand dollar loss to more than a million dollars in profit annually. Oversaw all product management and product development efforts for all newly created product offerings. Built a comprehensive customer support help desk solution. Successfully sold, built, and delivered numerous large-scale custom software projects for clients on time and within budget.
Synapsys, Inc. – Vice President of Technical Services
Recruited from Kajax Engineering to manage the software development department and was quickly promoted to manage all technical services of this growing telecommunications company. Synapsys, which was best known for its pre-paid calling card platform, had a variety of commercial product offerings related to the telecommunications industry. While there I had overall responsibility for the professional services group and product management of all telecommunications products. Personally oversaw the creation of strategic alliances and the authorization process to become resellers for Sun Microsystems, Hewlett Packard, Microsoft, Dialogic, and Summa Four products. Directly interfaced with national and international Fortune 100 telecommunications clients to provide majority of customer care management. Provided bridge between major clients and development teams working with Oracle, Sybase, C/C++, PowerBuilder, Java, and SQL Server. Provided support and guidance to engineering staff working with VRU/IVRs, Summa Four telephone switches, LAN/WAN equipment, Windows NT, and Sun Solaris equipment. Successfully sold, built, and delivered numerous large-scale custom software projects for clients on time and within budget.
Kajax Engineering, Inc. – Director of Technical Services
Went to work for Kajax Engineering (KEI), a 400+ employee 8(a) government contractor, as part of the sale of Advanced Business Solutions. Primary responsibilities and accomplishments while with KEI included working directly with the business development managers to win numerous multi-million dollar government contracts. Created teaming relationships with Sun Microsystems, Hewlett Packard, Microsoft, Tadiran, Sylvan and several tier one system integrators. Directly interfaced with strategic government clients. Established the company’s “Solution Center” which contained state-of-the-art network monitoring and management systems, COTS Help Desk & CRM based call center, and a Microsoft Certified Technical Education Center. Personally consulted clients on their specific technical needs. Overall responsibility for the project management and staffing selections for numerous government contracts.
Advanced Business Solutions - President & CEO
Founded Advanced Business Solutions and its’ subsidiary Internet Service Provider and built them into two of the leading technology organizations to focus on the non-profit (association) industry. Established Advanced Business Solutions as a tier one VAR with Gates Arrow, Tech Data, and Ingram Micro. Established one of the first UUCP email integrations between UUNet’s Unix platform and PCBoard. One of the first organizations to be awarded status by SPRY as a Premier “Internet Office” integrator. Awarded positions on the ASAE and GWSAE technology committees for superior service within the association community.
